Laughing at Skin Color

In this post we distinguish the difference between 2 different individuals. In the first video, it is the asian actor, Randall Park. In the second video, it is the african-american actor, Chris Rock. Honestly, they're both hilarious comedians, but one main difference, their ethnicity.

Being an Asian comedian, it was okay for him to make an asian jokes during his stand-up show, and there is ZERO news at all about what he said. It was simply entertaining and used for the sake of humor and comedy for his show.

On the other hand, you have Chris Rock. He is a well-known comedic star, and as soon as he made the joke, the Asian communities (celebrities included) started slamming her saying that it was very offensive.

This further proves that self-targeted racial jokes are much more tolerable than when a community makes a racial joke targeting another community.

My Culture is Not Your Goddamn Prom Dress

When a girl, Keziah Daum, went to her senior year prom wearing a Chinese dress to her prom, she was attacked and bullied via social media. I am 100% certain that if the person wearing the dress was from any Asian descent, this would've never gone viral. A guy named Jeremy Lam commented on her tweet of her prom with "My culture is NOT your goddamn prom dress." with tens of thousands of retweets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDWVHaPo6iQ https://twitter.com/daumkeziah/status/988115815068139520 https://twitter.com/jere_bare/status/989981023076208640 This cultural appropriation was handled differently simply because she was a different ethnicity.

Esther Ku's Comedic Barrage

https://nextshark.com/comedian-esther-ku-serious-problem-using-racist-self-hating-asian-jokes-laughs/ In this article, it is FULL of jokes that a girl by the name Esther Ku makes against her own ethnicity. Everything in the article is offensive against asian-americans, and yet honestly not many people bat an eye or care. One of her tweets saying "I'm racist against whatever breed my parents are." fully summarizes the purpose of this blog. The community that you are associated with is much more punishing when you make a racial joke about that community; however, if your race differs, it has a larger capability of offending people.
